Continuing with the theme Reconnecting with our Source.
When speaking about reconnecting with ‘our spiritual source’ ‘The Supreme soul’ – we’re not talking about some vague or impersonal cosmic concept. We are not speaking about a ‘foreign’ person, someone we don’t already know. We have an existing relationship with the Lord of our heart (Paramātma our eternal soulmate) – a most intimate relationship, but one which we have forgotten.
We’re speaking of our most dear friend who is ‘the reservoir of pleasure’, whom we have become disconnected from. And this is the underlying cause of all our unhappiness.
Bhagava-gīta
Yet in this body there is another, a transcendental enjoyer, who is the Lord, the supreme proprietor, who exists as the overseer and permitter, and who is known as the Supreme Soul. – Bg 13.23
Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad
The Lord and the living entity are compared to two birds sitting in a tree. While the illusioned living entity eats the fruits of the material world, the Lord as Supreme Soul and best friend witnesses these activities. MU 3.1.1
Although the two birds are in the same tree, the eating bird, the jīva, is fully engrossed with anxiety and moroseness as the enjoyer of the fruits of the tree. However, if in some way or other he turns to his friend the Lord and knows His glories, the suffering bird becomes immediately free from all anxieties. MU 3.1.2
