This talk is part of a series called Ethics Morals & Spirituality in response to a few questions I received about marijuana legalization and euthanasia which are being put to a referendum here in New Zealand.

Although euthanasia is a very sensitive subject we none-the-less look at the subject, not from the point of making any judgement of whether it is right or wrong, but rather, from the perspective of considering the purpose of human life and the importance that one’s state of consciousness at death plays in their future.

The ancient yoga text, the Bhagavad-gita states:

यं यं वापि स्मरन्भावं त्यजत्यन्ते कलेवरम् ।

तं तमेवैति कौन्तेय सदा तद्भावभावितः ।।६।।

“Whatever state of being one remembers when they quit their body, O son of Kunti, that state they will attain without fail.” Bg 8.6
