Part 3 – The Development of Modern Consumer Economics

Welcome to Part 3 from this series of talks on the subject of “Consumerism & Happiness – the Yoga View” by Acharya das.

In this third part of the series, Acharya das contrasts the “ideal consumer” who creates economic progress for industry, to an “atmarama”. An atmarama in the yoga system is a person who is already perfectly self satisfied, who finds happiness and fulfillment within rather than looking outside their body to consume with their senses.

If all people within society were atmaramas (self satisfied), this modern developed concept of consumptionism would fall apart.
